Exhibit overview: A teacher once told me you can only extract the essence of a subject after having lived with it for a considerable period of time. I've painted Cape Cod for many years in all seasons and weather conditions. Yet it's only been fairly recently that I'm beginning to really get a grip on the undulating poetry of the landscape. The Cape is such a colorful place that it's easy to get intoxicated with the superficial stuff. Postcard sunsets, colorful fishing boats and zippy store fronts. But beneath it all lies a monumental spit of sand and rock jutting 67 miles out into the ocean. And that's the underlying essence which my teacher talked about and what propels me to dig ever deeper into the character of this most beautiful place by the sea.
